Given the hectic nature of the property management industry, marketing often takes a back seat to the dozens of other pressing needs that have to be addressed on a day to day basis. But if you’re not focusing on this area, it’s highly likely that you’re missing out on opportunities to achieve additional growth. Thankfully there are a few proven marketing strategies that are easy, painless and won’t take you away from your other important duties as a property manager.
Focus on fascinating photos
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and in the property management industry this is a fact. Whether you are marketing a property that you’re trying to fill or the services you offer, imagery can be far more effective than text. The good news is, you don’t have to invest in expensive equipment to take incredible photos. Most smartphones today feature high quality cameras built-in. Of course, if you’ve got the budget, hiring a pro certainly won’t hurt.
Write click-worthy content
One way to achieve sustainable growth without spending hours upon hours trying to market your services as a property manager is to find simple ways to stand out from the crowd. In the digital age, it’s about capturing the attention of your target audience and enticing them to ‘click’ to learn more. Be creative and compelling with your writing, whether it’s a blog post, a property listing, an email or an ad. The more effort you put into creating content that is click-worthy, the better your results will be.
Be helpful
If you want people to connect with your property management brand (without having to jump through a bunch of hoops in the process), focus on fulfilling their needs in some way. You have many years of experience as a property manager and have amassed a great deal of wisdom along the way. Find a way to harness that knowledge and expertise and share it with your target audience. Write educational articles, post informative social media updates or incorporate helpful tidbits into your email newsletters.
Get to know SEO
Like it or not, search engine optimization isn’t going anywhere. And in today’s day and age, it’s essential to ensuring that your property management company can be easily found online. The good news is, it’s not rocket science, and you don’t necessarily have to be an expert at it. You just have to be willing to understand the basics of SEO – that is, what keywords you should use and incorporating them in your content and on your web listings.
Get involved
So far we’ve only covered digital marketing, but while that’s super important, it shouldn’t take away from good, old fashioned word-of-mouth referrals. You can position your property management company as a local resource and a strong presence in your community by getting involved, attending events, sponsoring local charities and forging partnerships with other local businesses. Doing so will increase brand awareness and help you establish valuable relationships with your clients and prospects.
